Viola Spolin (Nov 7, 1906- Nov 22, 1994)

Viola Spolin is the woman who was inspired to create theatre games on the basis of improvisational theater.
She created these techniques to help actors focus on the present moment and to relate improvisation with real life.
Spolin developed her games that unleashed the use of play and creativity, she did this because she believed that every person can learn to act and express creatively.
Her work influenced American theatre, television and television.

I found before we started dancing my spine felt curved, tired, strained, lazy and the colour i chose was orange.

After improvisation my spine felt flowy, relaxed, free, and curvy. I found this exercise very effective because as my images clearly show there was a big difference. What do you think?

This image represents my movement journey from my improvisation class.
I picked the color Gold as my "paint" because its a bright, vibrant color, and i think that was clearly expressed with my movement journey.
The patterns towards the bottom of the page show my journey and the way i used circular and extensive movement to travel.

How does blogging assist and support you as a dance student and a artist?

Blogging helps me look back on my work to reflect on my progress and development.
It can help me communicate with others in the industry, it also increases my ability to research and find other artists.
The way blogging lets others comment on your work is good so i can see what others see/feel and find from my pieces and also what i think of there's too.

What inspires me about dance?

Dance to me is another way of communicating through the language of movement.
I like the way it makes me feel free, and the way it can combine with other industries E.g fashion, music, visual arts.
